Kansas Morris twins declare for NBA Draft

NEW YORK (AP) Kansas Morris twins, Marcus and Markieff spends his seasons with the Jayhawks up, but to hire an agent and enter the NBA Draft.
The front of Philadelphia led the team in points, rebounds and blocked shots last season when the Jayhawks were 35-3, won the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles and advanced to regional finals in No. 1 in the NCAA tournament .
The Morris Brothers have announced plans Thursday to Sports Group and agent Tony Dutt, who, during the negotiations about the project and order represented rivals.
Kansas coach said Bill Self about a week ago that does not surprise me if the twins are professional, but certainly not surprised if they did not. There is something in the air. NBA also required: Kyrie Irving said draft back Herzog SCHOOL: Zeller and not Dr. Henson unciti.
I have enjoyed my three seasons as Kansas Jayhawk, and it is a privilege to have had the opportunity to play for free the coach and his team,  Marcus Morris said in a statement.  It was a difficult decision, but I think it is a good time to realize my dream.  Average Marcus, a second team All-American, 17.2 points and 7.6 rebounds last season while Markieff was an honorable mention All-American after averaging 13.6 points and 8.3 rebounds.
As a step on the stage of my career I have always on my time as a Jayhawk,  said Markieff Morris.  Playing here has prepared me for the opportunity to have a successful career in the NBA.  His decision comes a day after junior guard Tyshawn Taylor and the second before Thomas Robinson announced his intention to remain at Kansas next season.
None of them were as polite and ready for the NBA and the Morris brothers. Marcus, who is 8 feet 6 inches, and Markieff, which is only a bit higher, a good rebounder with the ability to score considered in the basket and stretch the scope of immunity.
The only real question is whether the brothers were very close, was born seven minutes apart, would benefit from each other. It is almost certain to go to different teams in the NBA.
While the decision leaves a huge hole in the Jayhawks first line, should also be recruiting class of self-help. There was some uncertainty in favor of the project, so the coaching staff not that subsidies were available.
been Naad Tharpe, a 6-0 guard from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and much vaunted guard Ben McLemore 6.5 San Luis already committed to the Jayhawks.
DeAndre Daniels, a 6-8 forward out of Florida is also high on the list rental, as Braeden Anderson, 6-8, 215 pounds before and Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Massachusetts.

Detroit could break if Stafford plays the role of Lions

NEW ORLEANS – There are many research teams to the quarterfinals in the draft this year, but not the Detroit Lions one of them. They believe in Matt Stafford, and it is easy to see why. It is reliable, secure, intelligent and talented.
What is not sustainable, and should refer to the Lions. But not convinced with the club of shoulder injuries last season, Stafford has no objection to this time – and for the good of the franchise, hoping they are right here.

Because if you, the Detroit Lions are ready to start.

I’m serious. Lions not only to improve, they are much better when I’m not sure – not Chicago – not the biggest threat to Green Bay in the NFC North. I know, I know long ago that Detroit was anything but a pi NFL? Ata. But now see the Lions – dare I say? – Hazardous and think about the last time that the adjective used in conjunction with the club. But it is earned. Detroit has won its last four games of last season – including losses, the Packers and Tampa Bay – and, finally, finally, finally started as a team, did what he did behave. He also won without Stafford, which increases the difficulty.

Now add a healthy image and Stafford Lions a descent of the good faith of respectability, his first attempt at a winning season since 2000.

Sure, their defense must improve their offensive line can help use and must find a new one can have a lasting effect. But who are we to laugh here? It all starts with Stafford, and if his right shoulder is fine Lions should be, too.

The main part of the course, Matt Stafford has just been on the ground,  said coach Jim Schwartz.  We’re not talking about what they need to learn our offense.

We are not talking about what they need to be a more accurate shooter, or defense, or a worker or mature. We talk about injuries, and it has nothing to so that the problems expected in the future.

This is in order. Only the record shows that maybe you should expect. Stafford was wounded twice as a rookie and was wounded twice last season. In two seasons, 13 games per is, that is, fits up to 41 percent of the Lions game, and, excuse me, do not cut. Compared to the first quarter of 2008, the project – Matt Ryan – or the first elected last year – Sam Bradford – you can see why. Ryan has lost two starts in three seasons, and Bradford is not lost in the last year.

And Stafford? Have already been forced to sit 19 games.

Once, it was a knee injury. Then I had three shoulder injury that put him there. In his rookie season, his left shoulder has been a problem. Last year was the law – with Stafford wounded twice. The Lions say it’s no big deal, but I say it is. Because if Matt Stafford in the bus can not stay in his room, he can not, from the report of injury or dock … The Lions are cooking.  If you had to have the quarterback look separations AC, Schwartz said,  it was a long list of these types. What is common is that over time are very good. The AC is a completely different labrum, rotator cuff and stuff.

I also do not have. But not only. He has not finished a season. One year left shoulder, the other right. What now?

All I know is that if the Lions Matt Stafford is a different club and I know that in games where he was wounded by the Lions led the way played.

However, bowed again and again and again, and it is one thing when it comes to a veteran like Chad Pennington sat down with a shoulder injury, is another when the future franchise – 23 years, two years of experience – not decide is it through a season.

I would be careful. No Lions.

The fact that you completed a season.  I said.

OK, I did not know,  Schwartz said,  but we do not doubt that the ability to do so. I think we’ve seen what it needs to be seen. It was a big step for him, the second year Rookie spend, and although it was on the field enough last year was not like a work in progress.

Schwartz not wait for the answer. The same for ever.

Nobody has a crystal ball, but does not change the fact that it is necessary to maintain in the field. There’s a reason why he was chosen No. 1 and went to play.

Top Ten of the season on the questions of the Steeler Nation

It is a football-2011I support for difficulties in the NFL, NFLPA and the deceased and his problems. I can not side with the owner about this, but ask the players of the line and for more, what they are entitled. As if millions of dollars werent enough. It is not possible in the real world, no one could open the owner of his company to his books and explain to demand their profit to their employees. Also because I am good at what I do in my work when I have an arbitration procedure and found to equal pay higher wages than those paid top 3 in my area, all the way through the line and unemployment laughed. The chances of a game in September? 50-50.
Troy Polamalu 2 How it through an entire season without injury?
In two of the last five seasons, Troy has a major injury that limited his work, or kept off the field in total suffered. It reminds me of Da Bears Brian Urlacher and his injuries, injured Brian plays at the expense of defense, and I think Troy has been guilty of doing the same thing sometimes.
Troy is a ball hawks, but increases the risk of injury. When playing in their capacity as security remains the best in the game, and if he plays in the Steelers system, are difficult to overcome. Sun close call here.
3 The Steelers Mike Pouncey business?
Unlikely, had the Steelers Mike in a cat, and said he would not be developed, when it fell to # 31 in the draft. Worse, it would be nice to see that their brothers Pouncey the Steelers in the fund 10 to 10 in the offensive line, have in the league. I would like to trade for the Steelers, and take a close-up corner. Troy Polamalu commercial Cowher went well.
How much? Oh, yes!
4 Is Ben Roethlisberger recover and be threatened again two minutes?
The last Super Bowl, only one anomaly in an outstanding career. His two Super Bowls this evil is a classic sandwich SB XLIII, when he broke the hearts of the Cardinals with an incredible record to the game in the sixth Lombardi Trophy exit for the Steelers ended. Ben can have two or three big plays lost SB LV changed the complexity of the game early and have given the Steelers a better chance to win. I think Ben is back in form after a long time in establishing a normal life. Once again the most dangerous district in the pocket of the NFL has seen in years.
5 Ike Taylor is a Steeler in 2011? This may hurt Ike can go to the highest bidder. I would again Ike, the area under the most is to see estimated in the NFL today. In 2008, is the top-4 receiver in a period of five weeks, the festival of Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and an enemy put up to 4 meters 48 (I think) and record kept in Chad. (So 鈥嬧€婭 gave my unocatcho label) Ike was a bit younger, but still a player good enough for us to base for 3 years. Ike likely to come to their senses and accept the offer of the Steelers. 6 We Carnell Lake secondary response to the problems of the Steelers?
I said, the Steelers secondary is not as bad publicity. The teams came out of the way our defense distribute, or should, because I could not run against us. This distorted the statistics in favor of the opponents, but our defense held opposing quarterbacks with a passer rating of 73 and had the fewest pass plays of 40, not bad. It is the seat of 8.13 work that we had problems. Brady, we left the West Coast offense, and it must stop. A corner, play the shot can, and casts a long way to the end of the season. Better yet, do to our current players and take away the easy way, the lake may be just the kind of help because he a professional player and one of the finalists almost Hall of Fame was a few years.
Wow, it’s harder than I thought!
7 Is Bruce Arians after the fall shots?
I doubt he is in a contract year the base year, but has not learned to stop blitzing defense that calls for the graphics card! Not that the bladder or the screen damn wing, a nice screen pass defense can stop a cold, but to run, you must practice. Arians need to take the offensive in the 101 and back notes.
8 Chris Kemoeatu learn to pass block ever?
Probably not, Chris is about to begin one of the best goalkeepers in the league, but his lack of freshness is his undoing. You can also see the idea that if there is nobody to fix it, turn around and go on the other side where there is always someone who is free to enter. Everything you need to do is look back and from time to time when you hang someone when it’s right behind him.
9 James Harrison is in the same animal that was two steps back?
Bet your ass on it! James is a monster, and may be off the road because of back problems in retirement, but I think it is fair to exercise caution in these operations. I wish I could pay back surgery, mine kills me now, I thank God I have only one!
Hines Ward 10 more wins in the show  Dancing with the Stars?
It depends Kym Johnson Hines and how to work as partners. Hines said she win and I think he will do a good job, but like all TV shows to politics and win the dirtiest player in the NFL is not all politically correct. Are you looking for him to reach the semis, and screwed by referees again! Oops, I mean, judge, screwed by the judges!
Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett, met on Friday after 13 years with the Steelers may pursue other objectives.
The offer of up to 5 Steelers restricted free agents last week includingWilliam Gay and Daniel Sepulveda purchase, I hope, a season, to accept the offer.

Mr. Big Shot and again: Billups lives up to name

MIAMIYou can heard the big news from New York did last week: the Knicks finally lost Anthony.Perhaps Caramel in the confusion that Chauncey Billups Melomania made the trip to Denver, too – and is already in motion looks bright for the Knicks.
Billups made a long 3-pointer from the right wing with 1:01 on the outstretched arm of Dwyane Wade left to New York the lead for good on Sunday night to give, and the Knicks – beaten on the road two nights ago from humble Cleveland – is his signature his first victory since winning the shook list of the Miami Heat 1991-1986.
Billups was not alone.
Anthony scored 29 points and Amare Stoudemire finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and blocked a shot from a huge James tries to protect a one-point lead with 7 seconds. But the man was known as  Mr. Big Shot  -  not that name with no reason,  said Anthony – who controls the final minutes when New York finished the game on a 13-2 run.
Billups finished with 16 points to New York, including a pair of 3 points in a 16-0 run that closed the first half and started all the way to the Knicks swing. Miami led 51-36 with 4 minutes rest, then fell 52-51 at halftime and cut a competition stomach the rest of the night.
That is, until New York has all the great games in the last 3 minutes done.
James scored 27 for Miami, which won seven straight at home had. Chris Bosh has finished 20 points and 12 rebounds and Wade with 12 points and nine assists for the Heat – transactions which had 20, which coincides with the fourth forced from New York this season.
With New York on the one hand, Bill Walker turned the ball over with 12.7 seconds left when he did not handle was a pass, and Miami had a chance.
Anthony James was trying to overcome on the left side of the track, but the master Stoudemire MVP twice sought.
James got another chance, but his potential tie-breaking 3-pointer with 2 seconds and missed the Knicks jumped in celebration.
What made things worse for Miami was that the game was there for the taking, leading 84-78 with 3:05 left heat.
As expected, the game was a double feature of the class – shows part contest, part.
Knicks superfan Spike Lee had a conversation with Landry Fields during the pre-game warm-up. Actor Michael Clarke Duncan and soccer star Thierry Henry had the first place, the tennis star Venus Williams and Miami audience seemed good at the end of the solution was in plenty of time to boo vigorously starters in New York, where they set introduced.
The atmosphere was crazy,  said Anthony Carter, to protect the Knicks.
Oh, it was not a game, too.
Shawne Williams Erick Dampier blocked in 2 minutes. No problem – James just threw the ball away from Stoudemire, then a no-look, back-to-head pass for a dunk Dampier. A minute later, James ran after him to get rid of Billups, the ball to Wade, then got back one alley-oop pass and hit his left hand.
How was it you? Someone has the clip on YouTube in 8 minutes.
All the highlights of the end, however, were provided by the Knicks.
Store at 9-2 in the next 3 minutes, Billups three from Wade gave the Knicks a 85-84 advantage – and few people are sitting in the stadium full at this point.
James said before the game that he thought it was funny that some saw as a secondary work of Billups Knicks-Nuggets.
In the home stretch Billups showed why James was right.
Different Jersey, all different, but the pride and passion remain the same,  said Billups.

Va. court upholds Rae Carruth conviction

A federal appeals court upheld former NFL player Rae Carruth’s conviction for plotting to kill his pregnant girlfriend, rejecting his claim that the jury was improperly swayed by statements made by the victim before she slipped into a coma and eventually died.

A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that while Cherica Adams’ statements and written notes should have been excluded from the trial, their admission amounted to harmless error because there was so much other evidence of Carruth’s guilt.

“With a wealth of admissible evidence, the state presented an overwhelmingly strong case that Carruth orchestrated a plan to kill Ms. Adams to avoid paying child support and that the plan unfolded as he had designed it,” Judge Dianna Gribbon Motz wrote in the unanimous opinion.

Carruth’s lawyer, Milton Gordon Widenhouse Jr., said he plans to appeal the decision.

“We think it’s an important question for the U.S. Supreme Court to address: the degree of deference that a federal court should give a state court in its interpretation of the Constitution,” Widenhouse said Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Adams, who was eight months pregnant, died weeks after she was shot in November 1999 in Charlotte, N.C. Carruth, a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers from 1997 through 1999, was acquitted of first-degree murder but was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, discharging a firearm into occupied property and using an instrument with intent to destroy an unborn child. The boy survived and is being raised by Adams’ mother.

The 37-year-old Carruth, also known as Rae Lamar Wiggins, was sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison.

According to testimony, Adams and Carruth had gone to the movies in Charlotte, stopped by his house to get her vehicle and then Adams followed Carruth to her house. Along a twisting, two-lane road, Carruth slowed or stopped, forcing Adams to do likewise. A car pulled up beside Adams and an occupant shot into Adams’ vehicle.

Van Brett Watkins fired the shots and Michael Kennedy drove the car. Both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for testimony that Carruth paid Watkins $6,000 to kill Adams and the baby.

In a 911 call, Adams reported that she was following her boyfriend and that he slowed down and someone pulled up beside her and shot her and her unborn baby. She said Carruth left the scene.

She later told a paramedic that “Rae” shot her, describing him as “my baby’s daddy.” At the hospital, Adams wrote notes saying that Carruth had insisted she follow him to her house, and that before they left he made a call and she overheard him say “We’re leaving now.”

Carruth claimed on appeal that the statements to the paramedic and the hospital notes were the centerpiece of the prosecution’s case and should not have been admitted because Adams couldn’t be cross-examined.

The appeals court agreed that the statements should have been excluded but said they were hardly the key element of the state’s case, which included the “extremely powerful and unchallenged account provided by Ms. Adams” in the 911 call and the testimony of Carruth’s accomplices and other witnesses.

The improperly admitted statements, the court said, “constituted mere drops in the sea of evidence offered by the state to show Carruth’s guilt.”

Carruth fled after he was charged in the slaying. The FBI found him hiding in the trunk of a friend’s car in Tennessee.

Memphian & NFL Star MIchael Oher Talks About The Real Blind Side Story

FAST FACTS:

  • Memphian Michael Oher Of The Blind Side Movie Speaks Out
  • The NFL Star Gives His Personal Take On The Hit Movie
  • Oher Says Hollywood Made Changes, But He’s Okay With The Message

(Memphis 2/16/2011) For Memphian Michael Oher, telling his side of the Blind Side movie in his new book “I Beat the Odds: From Homelessness To The Blind Side & Beyond” was a mission to motivate others.

Oher said, “I figured if I tell my story I can help so many people across the world.”

But his book almost never came to be.”I didn’t want to write the book because the Blind Side was out there and people would think I would tell the same story and already thought they knew me.”

Appearing Wednesday morning on News Channel 3 Live At 9, Oher said what changed his mind was finding out hi story changed others.

“I started getting hundreds, thousands of letters in the mail from people telling me how much a role model I was and how I inspired them; especially going through terrible times doing drugs and it changed their lives around.”

His life is inspirational considering what he witnessed growing up being homeless and surrounded by crime in North Memphis.

“I didn’t want to be a part of that cycle growing up and dropping out and getting involved in gangs, drugs and violence.”

He said even as a kid he knew he’d find out a way out with or without sports

“I figured that would be the easy way out, but I said to myself I really don’t have to be in the NFL or NBA. I could have two or three small jobs making whatever as long as I was out of the environment I was in.”

Oher says he’s thankful the Tuohy family adopted him, but he also says he possessed self-determination was not to be a statistic in life.

“That’s once in a lifetime for them to take me in the way that they did. It shows you the type of people they are. I didn’t necessarily need a wealthy family to take me in. I had a drive a long time ago.”

Regarding The Blind Side, he says he liked the movie, but he says he knew more about football than it showed.

“That’s all I had growing up and I took pride in it. For it to show me not knowing anything about it, that’s Hollywood for you (smile).”

He also says his adopted mom, Leigh Anne Tuohy, really enjoyed being portrayed by actor Sandra Bullock.

“She acts just like Sandra in the movie now (laughter).”

When asked if Leigh Anne has taken on Bullock’s personality, Oher said “She’s turned it up a little (laughter) and Sandra did a great job.”

Oher, who’s now a standout NFL player with the Baltimore Ravens, hopes to show others how to protect their own Blind Side no matter what obstacles they face.

“I’m a role model now and no matter how far down you think you are, things are always going to get better.”

Oher will be signing copies of his book Wednesday night at 6:30 at Davis Kidd Booksellers in Memphis.

Cowlishaw: Eagles ’2 or 3 wins’ ahead of Dallas; I’ll be ‘stunned’ if NFL does not start on time

Columnist Tim Cowlishaw answered your questions in a chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights.
John Gold asks … How does 2011 Cowboys coaching staff compare to last years? What are the strengths/weaknesses in comparison?
Tim Cowlishaw: Maybe Ryan and Wade equals a push at defensive coordinator? Hard to know, Ryan, like Wade, has had good years and bad. Obviously the same offensive coordinator but — conspiracy theory or not — Garrett became a much more effective play caller as the head coach. So that’s an upgrade. I think it’s more about the attitude that has to be put back into players and that seemed to be working last year.
Guest asks … what should the cowboys do with their first two picks?
Tim Cowlishaw: I don’t see a huge need at wide receiver or tight end, but beyond that they should consider anything. Yes, even a running back. Yes, even a quarterback. I think a more likely case would be that one of the two corners that people like from LSU and Nebraska falls to 9. If that doesn’t happen or if they can’t move up 2 spots to get one (not usually Jerry’s favorite tactic), then you’d like to see some focus on the defense but I wouldn’t pass up a good offensive lineman.
Hector asks … Hasn’t the NFL done enough to try to remedy the displaced Super Bowl ticketholders?
Tim Cowlishaw: They have come up with a third option for those folks. Sounds like they will all be taken care of nicely, although that doesn’t change the fact that the NFL screwed up big time at the Super Bowl. If you buy a ticket to any event, no matter how small, say a high school basketball game, you deserve to have a seat at that game. All that stuff that was going on with the Cowboys Stadium seats and the league’s knowledge during the week that the seats probably wouldn’t be finished — it’s still an embarrassment for a big-time league.
Brianna asks … Have you met Rob Ryan yet? Isn’t it weird that the Cowboys haven’t had a press conference announcing it that Jerry Jones could talk through?
Tim Cowlishaw: No. I think you will see that during the Jason Garrett era, controlling the media and limiting its access whenever possible will be one of the first commandments. It’s a shame that so many young coaches find all the wrong things about Bill Parcells , Bill Belichick, Nick Saban to emulate. But they do, and Garrett’s just one of them.
Drew asks … Do you expect the NFL season to start late because of the labor dispute?
Tim Cowlishaw: No. I will be stunned if the NFL season does not start on time. At the worst, it starts a week late and they cancel the week off before the Super Bowl and play a full schedule. The two sides are arguing over shares of the profits. The greed of the owners should never be underestimated, but they will get it resolved.
Steve asks … Assuming no lockout, how far do the Cowboys make it this year?
Tim Cowlishaw: I’m not climbing back onto that bandwagon. Until they do a better job drafting or sign some meaningful free-agents, they remain third best team in the NFC. Even with the Eagles’ arrogance, I like them 2 or 3 wins ahead of Dallas.
